MUFFLERS CAN BE EASILY REPAIRED AND COMES IN REAL HANDY IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY $250.00 PER PIPE. ALL YOU NEED IS SOME HEAVY GAUGE ALUMINUM FOIL AND "DB  WELD" EPOXY. I CUT THE BOTTOM OUT OF DISPOSABLE CAKE PANS FROM THE GROCERY STORE AS IT IS JUST THE RIGHT THICKNESS. THE RESULT WONT BE PRETTY BUT IT WILL PATCH THE HOLES UNTIL YOU CAN SAVE YOUR PENNIES FOR A NEW EXHAUST.

USE A STIFF WIRE BRUSH TO LOOSEN ANY RUST DUST OR AREAS THAT ARE ALMOST RUSTED FREE AND SAND PAPER TO ROUGH UP THE SURFACE SURROUNDING THE HOLE SO THE EPOXY WILL BETTER BOND TO THE METAL. A WIRE BRUSH WHEEL ON A BENCH GRINDER WORKS REAL WELL. CUT A PIECE OF FOIL LARGER THAN THE HOLE AND SHAPE IT BY PUSHING IT ONTO THE AREA BEING PATCHED. NOW MIX ENOUGH DB WELD TO APPLY A LAYER ALL AROUND THE HOLE. ALSO APPLY A LAYER OVER THE ENTIRE UNDERSIDE OF THE FOIL PIECE AND THEN PLACE IT OVER THE HOLE. THE DB WELD IS SLOW TO SET SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO RUSH AROUND. I USE PEEL AND STICK FOIL DUCT TAPE TO PLACE OVER THE PATCH TO HOLD IT TIGHTLY IN PLACE WHILE THE EPOXY HARDENS. THE DUCT TAPE CAN BE LEFT ON OR PULLED OFF ONCE SET. WAIT 24 HOURS BEFORE RUNNING THE ENGINE SO THE EPOXY CAN COMPLETELY CURE. DB WELD HAS A TEMPERATURE LIMIT OF OVER 600 DEGREES SO THERE IS NOT MUCH CHANCE OF BURNING IT UP DURING NORMAL OPERATION. THE FOIL DUCT TAPE CAN BE USED ALONE FOR SMALL HOLES UNDER 1/4 INCH BUT WILL BLOW THROUGH ON LARGER HOLES. PIN HOLES CAN BE PLUGGED WITH A SMALL DAB OF THE EPOXY ALONE.
